Guest Resident Program
Purpose
Anyone can is welcome to visit the Barley Jar as a resident guest whether or not they are interested in living with us for the longer term. Individuals interested in being longer term residents at the Barley Jar are asked to visit as resident guests as a prerequisite before making a decision to live with us longer term. This gives you a chance to consider what it would be like living with us and us a chance to consider potential new community residents.
The resident guest experience:
By living with us as a resident guest, you will be included fully as a participating member of in the community as fully as everyone else including:
- engaging in and aspiring to our intentions and traditions (social, environmental and spiritual),
- participating in meetings, doing chores, cooking meals and
- helping out with events and such.
Accessibility: Our home aims to be inclusive and accessible to the many ways that people move, think, feel or otherwise interact, however for the most part things are set up in a way that functions for our current residents. As such, you may wish to address certain requirements or wishes you may have prior deciding to guest with us. These might include any health, comfort, or work requirements you have that may not be present in our home. For example
- food allergies or sensitivities
- living visual/hearing/mobility requirements
- work and activity visual/hearing/mobility requirements
- pets: we currently have a small dog and some of us may or may not have pet dander allergies
